Shima Miabadi is a Senior Associate at Handel Architects which she joined in 2014. During her tenure she has worked on a variety of project types with a focus on the New York City Metro Area. She is currently serving as Project Lead for 25 Cottage, a new 600-unit residential development in Jersey City, NJ. Previously she served as a Project Designer for Maplewood Senior Living’s new Upper East Side residential building called Inspir, which she led from concept design through oversight of the construction administration and close out. Ms. Miabadi also worked as Project Designer for the renovation of the Porte Cochere at Cornell University’s Statler Hotel in Ithaca, NY.
Previously she served as Project Designer for TF Cornerstone’s 33 Bond Street in Brooklyn, which contains over 700 rental units, as well as taking an active role in the construction documents for the firm’s Pier 57 mixed-use development on Manhattan’s West Side.
Prior to joining Handel Architects, Ms. Miabadi worked at JMZ Architects and Planners, focusing on higher education. Her work there included a number of university masterplans for various New York State Community Colleges, as well as for SUNY Albany. She also worked on a renovation project at SUNY Plattsburgh, converting a gym into a research clinic.
