Sharif Hicks, Ed.S has a diverse work experience starting in 2003 as a Sales Representative at Verizon. Sharif then transitioned into the field of education, working as a Teacher at Newport News Public Schools, Teaneck Public Schools, and Richmond City Public Schools. Eventually, they moved up to leadership roles, serving as an Assistant Principal, Academy Principal, Elementary Principal, and Middle School Principal at Hampton City Schools starting in 2015.

Sharif Hicks, Ed.S began their education journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from Hampton University in 2003. Sharif then pursued a Master of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching from the same institution from 2006 to 2008. Finally, they completed their Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S) in Education at Old Dominion University from 2012 to 2015.
