John Wen started their work experience as a Research Engineer at the China Institute of Water Resources and HydroPower Research from June 1986 to August 1990. In May 1999, they joined Hammond Power Solutions as a Software Developer, and their tenure there is ongoing.

John Wen completed their Bachelor's degree at Taiyuan University of Technology from 1979 to 1983. Following that, they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree from China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research between 1983 and 1986. Lastly, John completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program at Cornell University from 1990 to 1996. The field of study for each degree is not specified.
