Pirjo Virtanen is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in sustainability and environmental management, currently serving as a Senior Advisor and acting Head of Sustainability Services at Greenstep since October 2021. Virtanen holds multiple board positions, including Chairman of the Board at Pirkanmaan Jätehuolto and Board Member roles at Kopar Group, Treili Oy, and Lojer Group. Prior to these roles, Virtanen held various senior leadership positions at Metso and Metso Outotec, culminating in Vice President roles focused on sustainability and operational excellence. Academic credentials include a Doctorate and a Master of Science in Materials Science from Tampere University of Technology, along with certifications as a Board Member and Board Chair from the Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
