Marianne Christiansen, bishop of Haderslev diocese since 2013, as the highest supervisory authority in the diocese, is responsible for the ecclesiastical service of all areas in the diocese. She is, among other things, responsible for priest appointments, ordination of new priests, and as part of the diocesan administration, she oversees the work and administration of the parish councils. The bishop is the theological guide and supervisor for priests and congregations.
In relation to the public, the bishop has tasks with mediating the affairs of the national church and of Christian preaching in general. The bishop in Haderslev Diocese is also the supervisor of the 22 priests in the Danish Church in South Schleswig.
