Aaron Cheung, MSc., P.Eng. has had a diverse work experience. In 2011, they worked as an Engineering Tech I at the City of Edmonton where they examined over 10,000 detailed engineering drawings and recorded differences between drawings and system data in half the time frame given. Aaron also organized and presented spreadsheets containing information about the differences to draftsman, and created tutorials for the drafting software (microstation) to be used to train new employees. In 2012, Aaron worked as a Process Engineer In Training at SNC-Lavalin and performed several hydraulics calculations to detail the pressure drop profile for various piping systems, and performed preliminary sizing of PSV (Pressure Safety Valve) using HYSYS and provided SNC templates. From 2013 to 2016, Aaron worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Alberta where they applied front-end engineering (FEE) principles to design a bench-scale apparatus to be used in the research of innovative partial upgrading technologies. Aaron also performed hazard assessments and led HAZOP meetings for two high temperature and pressure experimental autoclave rigs, and developed and executed safe work procedures (SWP) for experiments involving mixing of bitumen and solvent at high temperatures and pressures inside an autoclave. Since 2019, Aaron has been working as a Wastewater Engineering Specialist at H2nanO where they have executed the clean up and winterization of a solar based wastewater treatment pilot plant, designed, procured, built, and tested a pilot-scale enclosed reactor system to test the gas capture and treatment capabilities of H2nanO's proprietary photocatalyst on oil sands wastewater, and drafted various concept drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, and site layout drawings using AutoCAD LT.
Aaron Cheung, MSc., P.Eng. has an education history that includes a Master of Science (MSc) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, which they obtained in 2019. Aaron also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemical Engineering from the same university, which they obtained in 2014. Additionally, Aaron has obtained certifications in Tube Fitting Installation & Tube Bending from Edmonton Valve & Fitting | Swagelok Sales & Service Center (2018), Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) from the Alberta Construction Safety Association (2014), and H2S Alive 18.1 from Energy Safety Canada (2020).
