Mehreen Farooq is an accomplished academic and practitioner with extensive experience in governance, peacebuilding, and counter-terrorism efforts. Currently serving as a part-time professor at The George Washington University and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, Mehreen Farooq instructs courses focused on community responses to terrorism and gender issues related to peace and security. As a Governance Technical Expert at Counterpart International, Mehreen Farooq leads initiatives intersecting civil society development, democracy, and security governance. Previous roles include Vice President & Senior Fellow at the World Organization for Resource Development and Education, where leadership involved enhancing civil society's capacity in promoting peace and countering violent extremism, and a Senior Policy Analyst at the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security, focusing on building resilience against violent extremism. Mehreen Farooq holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Christopher Newport University.
