Technical Account Manager at Gurobi Optimization

Cara Touretzky is a Technical Account Manager at Gurobi Optimization since 2021. Prior to this, they were the Computing & Systems Technology Area 10B Programming Coordinator at AIChE - American Institute of Chemical Engineers since 2018. From 2016 to 2018, they were a Process Control Engineer at ExxonMobil, where they were the lead engineer for model-based optimization deployment in commissioning a newly constructed polyethylene plant, and also collaborated with multiple engineering disciplines and operations personnel to troubleshoot sub-optimal process conditions and implement solutions. From 2011 to 2016, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin Dept. of Chemical Engineering, where they developed reduced order models suitable for nonlinear programming formulations while accounting for scalability and balancing short/long-term process constraints. Cara also worked as an Energy Modeling Co-Op at NEC Laboratories America, Inc. from 2014 to 2015, where they developed a hybrid (time-series and first principles) modeling framework for predicting commercial building energy demands. Prior to that, they worked as a Product Development Intern at Compact Membrane Systems Inc. from 2010 to 2011 and as a Formulations Intern at Croda from 2009 to 2010.

Cara Touretzky obtained their Honors BChE, magne cum laude in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware from 2007 to 2011. Cara then went on to pursue their PhD in Chemical Engineering and Control Theory at The University of Texas at Austin, which they completed in 2016.
