Cars and guitars. Two words that sum up Paul Confrey, President of GTB EMEA. And they rhyme too, which is nice. Paul took a strange route into the ad world, having arrived via a degree in automotive engineering, design and mathematics. He joined GM Europe in Product Planning and moved from there into Marketing. He held many GM roles within the UK (Vauxhall) and Germany (Opel) and achieved automotive marketing fame when he was head of new media back in 1999: Paul is recognized as setting up the world’s first online car sales system, known as VIP (Vauxhall Internet Pricing), and at Wunderman Europe he lead their Automotive Planning Group (Jaguar, Land Rover, Ford, Mazda). As for guitars, Paul says that the fact he shares his birthday with Jimi Hendrix can be heard very clearly in his playing … and his two most recent bands, the brilliantly named Paul & Jon and the more esoteric The Out of Sorts, can be found on SoundCloud.
