Chairman of the Board of Directors of Groupe Desch¨ºnes Inc. since September 1, 2009. John is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc. and Tennis Canada. He is also a director of several companies and organizations, including Mazarin inc., Semafo inc. and Stornoway Diamond Corporation. He holds a law degree from Laval University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario (now The Richard Ivey School of Business). He is a member of the Barreau du Qu¨¦bec and of the Order of Canada. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Sidbec-Dosco inc. (now ArcelorMittal Montreal Inc.) from 1983 to 1996, President and Chief Executive Officer of the IOC Mining Company (1996 to 2000), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Employers Council (2006-2010), member of the board of Cartons St-Laurent Inc. (1995-2000), of the Soci¨¦t¨¦ g¨¦n¨¦rale de financement du Qu¨¦bec (1996-2010) and director of several industry associations at the Canadian, North American and international levels. He was also a member of the Commission d'¨¦tudes sur les services de sant¨¦ et les services sociaux (Clair Commission) in 2000 and, in 2001, a member of the Commission on Canadian Democracy and Corporate Accountability (Bennett / Broadbent Commission).
