Nyaguthii Chege is a distinguished legal and environmental professional with extensive experience in leadership and advisory roles. Currently serving as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for The Green Belt Movement since March 2023, Nyaguthii has previously held significant positions including Director of the East Africa Hub at Natural Justice and Executive Director at The Green Belt Movement. Academic contributions at Columbia Law School include roles as an advisor, Director of International, Human Rights & Summer Programs, and Lecturer-in-Law. Additional professional experiences encompass positions at Peking University School of Transnational Law, The World Bank, and as a staff attorney at Natural Resources Defense Council. Nyaguthii holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School, a Master’s degree in International Relations from Columbia | SIPA, and a Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.
