André Desmarais is the Director at Great-West Lifeco. Prior to their current position, they served as the VP, Head of Strategy from January 2007 to December 2012 for Direct Energy, the North American subsidiary of Centrica plc. As the Head of Strategy, they were responsible for corporate strategy development, supporting business unit strategies, and managing the annual corporate strategic planning. André also supported the investor relations function for Direct Energy.

Before joining Direct Energy, André worked as a management consultant for Bain & Company from January 2000 to December 2007. During their time at Bain, they worked on strategy engagements across industry sectors and geographies and was even transferred to Bain’s London and Seoul offices for short periods of time. André's projects included: distribution strategies, product portfolio reviews, cost reduction, merger integration, due diligence reviews (private equity), and organizational effectiveness.

André’s career started as a litigation lawyer at McCague Borlack from January 1997 to December 2000.

The educational career for André Desmarais is as follows:

-André received a BSc in Molecular Genetics & Molecular Biology from the University of Toronto.

-André then attended St. Michael's College School.

-After that, they received a JD from Western University.
