Samuel Murphey has an extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Samuel is currently serving as the Chief Strategy Officer at Greater St. Louis, Inc. since January 2021. Prior to this, they were the Vice President of Public Affairs at Arch to Park LLC from December 2019 to January 2021. From August 2018 to December 2019, they worked as the Head of Global Issues Management at Bayer Crop Science.
Before joining Bayer, Samuel Murphey held multiple positions at Monsanto Company. Samuel served as the Global External Affairs Lead for Chemistry from April 2015 to August 2018. From January 2014 to April 2015, they were the Rapid Response Lead, and from January 2013 to January 2014, they worked as the Senior Manager of Executive Communications.
Prior to their tenure at Monsanto, Samuel Murphey worked at the Office of Gov. Jay Nixon. Samuel held the role of Communications Director from 2011 to 2013, Deputy Communications Director from 2010 to 2011, and Executive Deputy Press Secretary from 2009 to 2010.
Before joining Gov. Jay Nixon's team, they were a Press Secretary for Gov.-elect Jay Nixon's Transition Team from November 2008 to January 2009. Samuel also served as the Deputy Press Secretary for Jay Nixon's Campaign from October 2007 to November 2008.
Samuel Murphey pursued their education in a chronological manner. Samuel first attended Rolla High School from 1998 to 2002, where they did not obtain any specific degree or field of study. Following their high school education, they enrolled at Truman State University from 2002 to 2006. There, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a focus on Communication, specifically Journalism. Lastly, in 2022, Samuel joined Syracuse University's Maxwell School to pursue an Executive Master's in Public Administration.
