John Wrathmell has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors. John started their career in 2001 as a Political Assistant in the House of Commons, followed by a role as a Parliamentary Officer at Universities UK. In 2005, they transitioned to HM Treasury, working as an Economist until 2011. At The Labour Party, they served as Head of Economic Policy from 2011 to 2015. In 2015, they joined Westminster Policy Institute as an Associate, before moving to New Economy in 2016 as the Head of Strategy, Fiscal Devolution & Social Investment. Currently, they are associated with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, where they have held the roles of Head of Strategy & Policy Development and Assistant Director, Strategy & Policy, before assuming their current role as Director, Strategy, Research & Economy. Overall, their experience includes strategic planning, policy development, and research across various organizations.
John Wrathmell attended Ermysted's Grammar School from 1989 to 1996, but did not earn a degree or specialize in any field of study during this time. John then enrolled in the University of Oxford from 1997 to 2000, where they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Ancient and Modern History. Later, from 2004 to 2006, John pursued further education at Birkbeck, University of London, and obtained a Master's Degree in Economics.
