Life Cycle Project Manager at Great Lakes Water Authority

Andrew Kinel, P.E. has extensive experience in the field of electrical and controls engineering. Andrew has worked in various roles and companies throughout their career.

From 2008 to 2011, Andrew worked as a Computer Systems Architect at Lockheed Martin.

In 2012, Andrew joined Tetra Tech as an Electrical Engineer, specializing in power distribution, instrumentation, and control systems. Andrew also served as the Electrical and I&C Group Leader, managing a team of engineers and drafters. Andrew provided QA/QC services and mentorship for junior engineers.

In 2019, Andrew moved to HDR as a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, where they were responsible for consulting, military planning, and detailed design for water and resources projects.

In 2021, Andrew joined Burns & McDonnell as a Senior Controls Engineer. Andrew focused on controls, instrumentation, and network system design and maintenance for water and wastewater clients across the US, with an emphasis on process controls, network redundancy, and cybersecurity.

Currently, Andrew is working at Great Lakes Water Authority as a Life Cycle Project Manager, starting in 2023.

Andrew Kinel, P.E. has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, which they obtained from 2004 to 2008. Andrew also completed an Advanced Manufacturing Cybersecurity Professional Program at the University of Michigan, which took place from 2022 to 2023.

In terms of additional certifications, Andrew obtained the following courses: Ethical Hacking Course, Python for Security Course, Cyber Infrastructure and Technology Course, Network Security Course, Linux Security Course, Cloud Security Course, Computer Networking Course, and Microsoft Security Course. These certifications were obtained between June 2022 and December 2022 from various institutions like Canvas Credentials (Badgr) and Badgr (now part of Instructure).

Furthermore, Andrew Kinel, P.E. holds a Professional Engineer (PE) certification from multiple states and institutions, including the State of Ohio, State of Illinois, State of Alaska, and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. These certifications were obtained between 2016 and 2021.
