Michelle Barreras has extensive work experience in the field of education. Michelle started their career as an educator at District #36 in 1998 and worked there until 2007. Michelle then became a lecturer at Columbia College Chicago from 2009 to 2014. In 2014, they transitioned to The Nueva School as a Kindergarten Teacher and remained in that role until 2017. From 2017 to 2023, they served as the Head of School at The Discovery School at Bay Area Discovery Museum. Currently, they are the Assistant Director of K-12 Partnerships at Great Books Foundation.
Michelle Barreras earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Iowa, which they attended from 1986 to 1990. Later, from 1995 to 1997, they pursued a Master's degree in Early Childhood Leadership & Advocacy from National Louis University. In addition, they also earned a Master of Education (MEd) degree from National Louis University, although the specific years of study for this degree are not provided.
