Paul Desmarais serves as a Board Member at Empower since October 2023 and holds the position of Chairman and CEO at Sagard, a multi-strategy alternative asset manager, since May 2016. Desmarais is also the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Portage and Co-Founder and Chairman of Diagram Ventures, both established in 2016. In addition, Desmarais has been the Chairman of the Board for Wealthsimple since April 2015 and Grayhawk since March 2020. Board Member roles include nesto since December 2020 and previously Dialogue until November 2023, Imerys from May 2014 to May 2022, and Personal Capital from May 2016 to August 2020. Desmarais has an MBA from INSEAD (2009-2010) and a BA in Economics from Harvard University (2000-2004). Educational background includes attendance at Lakefield College School, Lower Canada College, and College Stanislas.
