Jon Callan has a diverse work experience in the field of design, spanning over two decades. Jon started their career as a Junior Graphic Designer at Loman Cusack Design in 1999, where they worked directly with clients and managed graphic design projects. Later, they worked as a Graphic Designer at Cusine de France, where they handled the design and print of promotional material.
In 2003, Jon returned to Loman Cusack Design, this time as a Product Designer and Account Manager. Jon played a key role in developing and managing an in-house development team, significantly contributing to the company's revenue growth.
In 2009, Jon ventured into entrepreneurship and set up their own web design consultancy business called 100 Paces Web Development. Jon successfully built a client base and developed creative web experiences for clients, while also managing a technical column in a lifestyle magazine.
Jon's next role was as a Digital Art Director at MOR Solutions, where they led a team of designers and front-end developers, ensuring the delivery of commercially successful projects. Jon also implemented user research groups and utilized wireframing and prototyping techniques to meet user needs.
Jon then transitioned to the role of Senior Product Designer at MOR Solutions before joining Granite Digital in 2017 as a Digital Creative Director. At Granite Digital, Jon was responsible for overseeing product design and was recognized for their achievements, including winning the Heist Award in 2020.
In 2020, Jon also took up a contract role as the Chairperson of the Digital Category at the Institute of Designers in Ireland. Jon managed a judging team and set high standards for the category.
Throughout their career, Jon has demonstrated a strong track record of excellence in design, leadership, and project management.
Jon Callan has a diverse education history that includes both practical leadership skills and technical expertise. In 2022, they obtained a degree in Practical Leadership Skills from Noble Work Foundation. Prior to that, in 2021, they completed courses in managing and influencing virtual teams, as well as front-end development using Elementor. In 2019, they completed a comprehensive JavaScript course.
Adding to their skills, Jon pursued higher education at Technological University Dublin in 1999, where they obtained a Higher Diploma in Graphic Design and Repo Technology. In 1998, they achieved a certificate in Graphic Design and Presentation from the same institution, earning a distinction. Jon also holds a certificate in Art, Craft, and Design from O'Fiach Institute in 1996.
Furthermore, Jon completed their high school education at Drogheda Grammar School in 1995, achieving a Leaving Certificate in the field of study.
Additionally, Jon has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. This includes a certificate in Project Management from FETAC in 2014, a certificate in PHP and MySQL from IBAT College Dublin in 2013, a certificate in Design Presentation (with Distinction) from Technological University Dublin in 1999, and a diploma in Graphic Design and Print Technology (with Distinction) from the same institution in 1998.
