Dr. Rajan Mookken has extensive work experience in the field of lubricant research and technology. Dr. Rajan started their career at Indian Oil Corporation Limited in 1976 and spent 40 years in various roles, including Scientist Emeritus, General Manager (Lubricant Technology) and Scientist Emeritus and General Manager (R&D). During their time at Indian Oil, they focused on developing energy-efficient and long-life industrial and automotive lubricants, with a particular interest in synthetic and mineral base oils. Dr. Rajan also had responsibilities in corporate planning for downstream petroleum companies, blending plants, and technical services. In 2016, Dr. Mookken joined Gulf Petrochem Group as a Corporate Adviser.
Dr. Rajan Mookken started their education at St Thomas High School in Trissur, Kerala, India from 1965 to 1967, where they obtained their Bachelor's degree. Later, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry at St Thomas' College from 1968 to 1971. Dr. Rajan continued their studies at the same institution and earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Chemistry from 1972 to 1973. Dr. Mookken then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Energy Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, from 2005 to 2009.
