David Hashemi, MD, MBA is an Entrepreneur in Residence at Gore Range Capital, and is concurrently completing his final year of Dermatology residency at Harvard Medical School. He previously completed internship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and prior to medical school served as an Engagement Manager in management consulting and Director of Corporate Strategy at a Fortune 500 entertainment company.
In his role as Entrepreneur in Residence, Dr. Hashemi provides medical, dermatologic, and strategic expertise in the evaluation of new potential investments, while also providing support to Gore Range's existing portfolio companies. He works directly with the firm's best-in-class Industry Advisory Board on new opportunities, existing investments, and its regular Advisory Board meetings. His interests include medical, surgical, oncologic, and cosmetic dermatology, clinical trials, and innovation within both dermatology and healthcare more broadly, and he has given multiple lectures and published numerous articles on these topics in such influential journals as JAMA Dermatology, JAAD, and Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Hashemi holds an MD from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a post-baccalaureate certificate from Johns Hopkins University, and an undergraduate degree in Economics Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago. His medical education, training, and research experience includes 2 of the top-ranked cancer centers in the world (Memorial Sloan Kettering and Dana Farber Cancer Institute), 2 of the top-ranked children's hospitals in the world (Boston Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia), and several of the top-ranked overall hospitals (including Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, New York Presbyterian, the University of Pennsylvania Hospital System, and Johns Hopkins Hospital).
