Yu Sun is an experienced professional in the field of optical communications and system design, currently serving in Network Operations at Google since October 2024. Prior to this role, Yu Sun held various positions at SubCom from February 2008 to October 2024, including Director of System Design, System Designer, and Senior Member Of Technical Staff, leading technical solution teams and overseeing system design for high-speed optical communication systems. Earlier experience includes serving as a senior optical engineer at Optium Corporation from February 2004 to January 2008, focusing on high-speed optical communication systems and customized optical analog systems. Yu Sun earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Photonics from the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 1997 to 2003.
