Jon Orwant is a highly experienced technology leader, currently serving as Senior Engineering Director at Google since March 2006. Prior to Google, Jon held the position of Director of Research at France Telecom from September 2002 to March 2006, and served as CTO and Editor at O'Reilly & Associates from February 2000 to August 2002. Earlier in the career, Jon published The Perl Journal from 1995 to 2000. Academically, Jon earned a PhD and MS in Media Arts & Sciences, along with dual BS degrees in Computer Science and Cognitive Science, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, spanning from 1987 to 1999.
