Greg Hornby is a highly experienced software engineer, currently working at Google since May 2017, focusing on core search, image search, and recommendations. Prior to this role, Hornby held positions at Facebook as a senior software engineer, contributing to the News Feed Story Ranking Team, and co-founded Orbimi, which aimed to innovate the jewelry sector using intelligent algorithms and rapid prototyping. Hornby also served as a senior scientist at NASA Ames Research Center and was deputy director of information sciences at UCSC's UARC, managing multiple research teams. Earlier career experiences include a scientist role at QSS Group Inc. and research at Sony Electronics. Greg Hornby holds a PhD in computer science from Brandeis University, along with a master's degree from the University of Alberta and a bachelor's degree from The University of British Columbia.
