Girish Baliga is an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience in big data, analytics, and search technologies. Currently serving as Director of Engineering for Spanner Data Access at Google since September 2024, Girish previously held multiple senior engineering roles at Uber from 2018 to 2024, including Director of Engineering for both Batch Data and Data Analytics, overseeing the company's Datalake and analytics infrastructure. Prior experiences include leadership positions at both Google and Urban Engines, where significant accomplishments involved scaling big data query engines and developing robust data ingestion systems. Academic qualifications include a PhD and multiple master's degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, alongside a BTech from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka.
