Alexey Rubtsov currently serves as a Principal Strategic Advisor at Finance Canada, focusing on artificial intelligence in financial services since July 2024. Additionally, Alexey is a Senior Research Associate at the Global Risk Institute, where responsibilities include performing in-house research and monitoring projects related to systemic risk in the Canadian financial industry. In academia, Alexey holds the position of Director of the Financial Mathematics Program at Toronto Metropolitan University and serves as an Associate Professor and previously as an Assistant Professor at Ryerson University. Alexey's previous roles include Senior Specialist at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada, Academic Advisor at Borealis AI, and postdoctoral positions at Ryerson University and Aarhus University in Denmark, specializing in various aspects of finance and mathematics. Alexey earned a Ph.D. in Operations Research and a Master’s degree in Financial Mathematics from North Carolina State University.
