Galia Nurko has a diverse work experience spanning from 2012 to 2023. In 2012, they were an Account Manager and Special Assistant to the President at The Dershowitz Group, where they provided clients with comprehensive project management, including managing events and conferences. In 2013, they were a Regional Advisor, Mid-Atlantic at Hasbara Fellowships, where they managed dozens of conferences and speaking tours and led six two-week educational programs in Israel. In 2014, they were the Director of Media Relations at the Embassy of Israel to the United States, where they managed all media requests, briefings and appearances for Ambassador Dermer. In 2016, they were a Social Media Consultant at Save the Children, El Salvador, where they designed a 40-page social media strategy outlining a three-year advocacy campaign and presented it to the country-office leadership team. In 2017, they were a Graduate Policy Fellow at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, where they researched and conducted statistical analysis and co-authored a report titled 'Benchmarking U. S. Government Websites'. Galia was also an External Research Fellow through Georgetown University at the Inter-American Development Bank, where they researched and co-authored a blog titled 'What is your network effect?'. Additionally, they were a Programming Intern at the Institute for Integrated Transitions, where they wrote a preliminary draft for a policy brief and assisted in managing programming. Lastly, they were an Intern in Media Relations and Digital Marketing at the Council on Foreign Relations, where they assisted in managing media requests and created social media assets. In 2018, they joined DAI, where they established and lead DAI's Center for Digital Acceleration's cybersecurity portfolio by securing DAI's first and second cybersecurity capacity building contracts, totaling $73 million. Galia also designed and applied a user-centered research methodology to gather insights on the interplay between digital access and perceptions of trust and privacy amongst urban youth in India and Ghana. In 2023, they joined Global Cyber Alliance as the Associate Director of Strategy and Development.
Galia Nurko holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, where their field of study was International Development and Emerging Technologies. Galia also holds a B.A from The Ohio State University, where they majored in History and minored in International Studies and Hebrew.
