As a member of Gleeds Supervisory Board leading the evolution of the business, Stuart provides strategic counsel to Gleeds’ executive board members and teams across the world, cultivating the organisation’s approach to service delivery, collaboration and digital innovation.
Stuart is also a Board member of the UK Government Department of International Trade’s Infrastructure Exports initiative.
Joining Gleeds in 1976 as a trainee in Nottingham, Stuart became a partner in 1994 and a board member in 2005. In this time he has played a significant role in the organisation’s expansion both locally and internationally.
Stuart led Gleeds’ Midlands business to four-fold growth, developing a number of key international accounts including: Marks & Spencer, Heineken and ExxonMobil. He also spearheaded Gleeds’ entry into the India and Indian Ocean market, working with international and local clients to help the business grow at an average of 35% per annum.
Gleeds’ early adoption of BIM technologies and culture can all be attributed to Stuart’s foresight which has now developed into a Government-led initiative and ultimately guiding the construction industry to more efficient ways of working. He is corporate sponsor of Gleeds’ most recent venture, the Frame web app, developed as a digitally based project management process to enable BIM compliancy and encourage improved collaboration.
As chair of Gleeds’ HR Board, Stuart strongly believes in developing talent and nurturing employees. He has successfully enabled Gleeds to become one of the few companies in the construction industry to be recognised as a Gold (Champion) standard ‘Investor in People’.
