Brad Shafer

Brad Shafer has a long and varied career in the field of advancement and business development. Brad began their career in 1998 as an Associate Director of Development at Iowa State University Foundation. In 2000, they joined the Air National Guard as a Staff Sergeant, where they were promoted three times in six years. In 2003, they became Development Director at KU Endowment Association, where they secured over $8,500,000 and managed a 40-member Advisory Board. In 2007, they moved to Arizona State University Foundation as Assistant Dean/Director of Development, where they closed a record $20,000,000 gift for Physics and closed FY09 at $34M on a $10M goal. In 2010, they joined University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as Associate Dean - Advancement & Executive Director, Kenan-Flagler Business School. In 2014, they moved to University of Virginia as College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts and Sciences Vice President of Development. In 2015, they became Head of Business Development & Investor Relations at Ramsey Quantitative Systems, Inc. (RQSI). In 2018, they joined University of Louisville as Vice President - Advancement, where they increased overall giving from $53M to $87M to $129 annually, while managing a decrease in budget and reconstituting the Development Team after a significant previous exodus. In 2021, they became Business Development Executive at GiveCampus. Most recently, in 2022, they joined EAB as Consultant & Principal.

Brad Shafer obtained their Diploma from Trumbull High School in 1989. Brad then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning a B.S. in English Education in 1994 and an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration in 1998. In 2000, they obtained a Technical School Certificate from the U.S. Air Force in Human Resources. Brad concluded their educational career in 2003, when they received their Juris Doctor from Creighton University in Law.
