Charles Clapton is an experienced professional in federal government affairs, currently serving as Vice President at Gilead Sciences since August 2017, after previously holding the position of Executive Director in the same department. Clapton has a strong background in health policy and advocacy, having worked as Senior Vice President for Federal Advocacy at PhRMA and as a partner at Hogan Lovells. Prior roles include serving as Health Policy Director for the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and Chief Health Counsel for the House Ways & Means Committee. Clapton's legislative career began as a Senior Legislative Assistant and Counsel to Rep. Harris Fawell and has spanned several committees, including the House Energy & Commerce Committee and Senate Judiciary Committee. Educational qualifications include a JD from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Boston College.
