Dan Gifford is an accomplished Principal Scientist at Getty Images, holding previous titles of Senior Data Scientist and Data Scientist since January 2016. Prior to this role, Dan served as an Astrophysics Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Michigan from September 2010 to December 2015, where a key contribution included the development of an open-source software package for processing complex and un-calibrated telescope data into clean, research-quality datasets. Dan earned a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Michigan in 2015 and a BS in Physics from Western Washington University in 2010.
