Thomas Bergen is the co-founder and CEO of getAbstract since December 1998. Thomas is also the co-founder and chairman of Amphasys AG since March 2012, where they helped establish the company's strategy and remains an active board member. In March 2020, they founded HOPE NOW, an organization that aims to mobilize entrepreneurs worldwide to address climate change. Additionally, they have served as a member of the Trustees Committee and as a member of the Board of Trustees for Swisscontact worldwide from September 2015 to May 2016, and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Larix Foundation since June 2020. Bergen has also held multiple roles with Kloster Einsiedeln, including as a member of the Board of Trustees from February 2005 to December 2019. Thomas served as President of the Swiss Management Association from May 2003 to April 2011. Prior to their entrepreneurial endeavors, Bergen was an officer in the Swiss Army and worked as the Managing Director of MIGROSBANK from February 1993 to May 1999.
Thomas Bergen attended the University of St.Gallen from 1987 to 1991, where they obtained a degree in Operations Research, specifically lic.oec.HSG. In 1992, they attended CIDEF Angers for a brief period and studied French. Prior to that, from 1980 to 1986, Thomas studied Mathematics at Rothen Reussbühl and obtained a Matura Typus "C" degree.
