Dr. Christiane Schmidt is an experienced researcher and project coordinator currently serving as the NFDI4Earth Project Coordinator at the Helmholtz-Centre Potsdam - German Research Centre GFZ since May 2024. Previously, Dr. Schmidt worked as a Science Manager and Grant Development Manager at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH from July 2020 to December 2023, where notable achievements included leading a successful DFG project and obtaining funding for a major multi-million Euro project. Dr. Schmidt has held various research roles, including Principal Investigator of the DFG-funded SYMBIO-AID project focused on coral reef restoration, and has gained international experience through fellowships and research positions at institutions such as DAAD and Université d'Angers. Dr. Schmidt holds a Ph.D. in Geosciences from the University of Bremen and a Master of Science in Geoecology/Ecosystem Management from the University of Tübingen.
