Jared Benko is the Athletic Director at Georgia Southern University. Jared was previously the Deputy Director of Athletics/CFO at Mississippi State University from July 2016 to March 2020. In their role at Mississippi State, they provided oversight to the Business Office, Human Resources, Facilities, Game Operations, Equipment, capital projects, and contractual agreements. Jared also led the search process for hiring head coaches for men’s golf, women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball.

In addition to their duties overseeing the Athletic Department, they also supervised the day-to-day operations for Football, including football scheduling, game day execution, supervision of coaches, and strategic planning. Jared developed the candidate pool, compiled analytics, interfaced with agents, and served on a three-person search committee for the head football coach position. Once the head coach was hired, they assembled a 35+ member football staff.

Jared had financial oversight of a combined $105 million operating budget for the Athletic Department and the Bulldog Club. Jared supervised the management of the Athletic Business Office which included: business operations, finance and budgeting, human resources, payroll and benefits, risk management, travel, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Jared also provided oversight to Facilities and Game Operations staffs, capital projects, and contractual agreements.

Jared Benko has been instrumental in leading Mississippi State University’s Athletic Department to new levels of success. Under their leadership, the department has seen increased revenue, improved facilities, and enhanced customer service. Jared is a respected leader in the athletic community and their experience will be a valuable asset to Georgia Southern University.

Jared Benko has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor's in Sports Studies from the University of Georgia.
