Aku Heinonen is an accomplished geoscientist currently serving as the Director of Science and Innovations at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) since September 2022. Prior experience includes a role as University Lecturer in Petrology at the University of Helsinki from August 2017 to August 2022, and several postdoctoral positions within the Department of Geosciences and Geography, and the Institute of Seismology at the University of Helsinki. Additional experience encompasses freelance writing and a role as an Academic Affairs Officer. Academically, Aku Heinonen holds a PhD in Geology and serves as an Adjunct Professor in Petrology, with ongoing studies towards a Bachelor of Business Administration at Xamk - South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences.
