Sarah Skye McNees possesses extensive experience in the field of biotechnology and microbiology, currently serving as a Scientist at Genomatica since February 2013. In this role, Sarah supports the Enzyme Engineering and Directed Evolution teams by introducing genetic diversity and conducting high-throughput genotyping of variants. Previous positions at Genomatica include Senior Researcher I and II, where Sarah constructed enzyme libraries and introduced genetic diversity at both the plasmid and genome level. As a Research Associate, Sarah engineered E. coli pathways and optimized gene expression. Prior to Genomatica, Sarah worked at Synthetic Genomics, leading sampling and strain isolation efforts, and at UCSD, conducting research related to diabetes and pancreatic cancer. Additionally, Sarah contributed to tuberculosis and Francisella tularensis research at UCLA. Sarah earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UC San Diego in 2011.
