Armen Harutyunyan

Armen Harutyunyan has extensive experience in the field of humanitarian demining and operational efficiency. Armen currently serves as the Head of Division, Standards and Operations at the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), where they are responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of standards and operations in the field of demining. In this role, they have conducted assessments of national governments' capacities and provided training to managers working for governments and organizations.

Prior to their current position, Armen worked at UNOPS as a Senior Portfolio Manager, where they led a team providing operational Business Process Outsourcing services. Armen was also involved in setting up governance structures for new humanitarian start-ups and served as an advisor to senior executives on operational and governance matters.

Armen has also held positions at The HALO Trust, the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), United Nations Peacekeeping, FSD (Fondation suisse de déminage), and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), where they gained experience in various aspects of demining operations and project management.

Throughout their work experience, Armen has demonstrated their ability to lead teams, manage budgets, develop strategies, and provide guidance on operational efficiency and risk management.

Armen Harutyunyan holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Leicester, which they completed from 2010 to 2015. Armen also earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Humanities, Philology from Artsakh State University between 1995 and 1999. Additionally, they have obtained certifications as a First Aid Responder from the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in 2018 and as a Procurement Practitioner from UNOPS in 2015. Armen Harutyunyan recently completed a program in Business Sustainability Management at the University of Cambridge in 2021.
