James Lucas is a Senior Scientist II at Generate:Biomedicines, leading the Computational Protein Generation Team since July 2021. Prior experience includes roles as Research Scientist II and Research Scientist in Computational Protein Design at Nautilus Biotechnology from April 2020 to July 2021, as well as a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of California, San Francisco, where research was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Tanja Kortemme. James also served as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of California, Davis, focusing on enzyme engineering and participated in the 2014 iGEM team, developing an enzyme-based biosensor for assessing extra virgin olive oil quality. James holds a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Davis.
