Frank Wei, PhD, is a highly experienced professional in artificial intelligence and machine learning, currently serving as Principal/Distinguished Scientist and Director of Data Science at General Motors since 2019. Wei has led teams in developing large language models for production applications, utilizing techniques such as VLLM and TensorRT, resulting in a significant business growth of 7x. Prior to this role, Wei worked as a Senior Research Statistician at USDA from 2014 to 2019, overseeing the prediction of official hog/pig estimates and enhancing data processing techniques. Additionally, Wei gained experience as a Research Associate at NISS in 2013-2014, manipulating and processing education assessment data. Wei holds a PhD in Computational Science and Data Science from George Mason University, an MA in Applied Mathematics, and an MS in Applied Statistics, both from the University of Michigan.
