Gerard Verweij has extensive experience in sustainability and environmental policy, currently serving as Beleidsadviseur Duurzaamheid en Participatie at Gemeente Gooise Meren since January 2016. In this role, Gerard focuses on co-creating sustainability policy with residents, organizations, and businesses, facilitating initiatives, and enhancing government participation. Previously, Gerard worked as Milieu- en Duurzaamheidcoördinator at Gemeente Bussum and as Projectleider at IVN, advising local governments on sustainable development and nature education. Earlier positions included consultancy in environmental policy at SME Advies, project support in education at Gemeente Utrecht, and logistical organization for various church-related events. Gerard holds a Bachelor's degree in History and Geography from Stichting Opleiding Leraren and has a background in teaching and developing educational materials.
