Robert Helland is an experienced professional in federal affairs with a focus on advocacy and legislative strategy. Currently serving as the Director of Congressional and Federal Affairs at GCSAA since August 2015, Robert develops and maintains relationships at the congressional level to advocate for the interests of golf in federal decision-making. Prior to this role, Robert was a Federal Lobbyist/Advisor at Reed Smith LLP for nearly a decade, where bipartisan relationships were cultivated on various policy issues, and client strategies were developed for grassroots lobbying. Additionally, Robert has held multiple roles in public service, including Legislative Assistant for U.S. Senator Jon S. Corzine, where notable legislation was secured, and Research Attorney for Corzine for Senate. Robert holds a Juris Doctor from Widener University Commonwealth Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from The College of New Jersey.
