Katrina de Lange

Katrina de Lange has a range of work experience in various research and data science roles.

Katrina is currently working as the Population Analysis Lead at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, starting in March 2022.

Before that, they worked at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) from October 2018 to March 2022, holding multiple positions including Senior Expert II Data Science, Senior Expert I Data Science, and Data Analyst / Bioinformatician.

From September 2017 to August 2018, Katrina worked as a Vertex Fellow at Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

Katrina also gained experience as a PhD student at the Wellcome Sanger Institute from October 2013 to August 2017.

In 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant in Computational Biology at the University of Waikato.

Katrina has also interned at Google as a Software Engineering Intern from December 2012 to February 2013.

Katrina'swork experience at the University of Waikato includes roles such as a Computer Science Lab Demonstrator from March 2010 to November 2012, and as a Summer Research Student, where they worked on various projects including metagenomic analysis and computational chemistry research.

Additionally, they worked as a Summer Research Student at The University of Auckland from November 2011 to February 2012.

Katrina started their professional career as a Summer Research Student at The University of Waikato from December 2008 to February 2009.

Katrina de Lange pursued their education chronologically, starting with a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Computing and Mathematical Sciences from The University of Waikato. Katrina attended this institution from 2009 to 2012. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Cambridge from 2013 to 2017, undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the field of Bioinformatics.
