Software Engineering Lead at Garvan Institute of Medical Research

Filippo Ammazzalorso has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of software engineering, medical research, and IT management. Filippo has worked as a Software Engineering Lead at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research since 2022. Prior to that, they were a Lead Software Engineer at Omniscient Neurotechnology, where they played a key role in the development of the company's neurosurgery software and data pipelines. Filippo also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at CSIRO's Data61, where they were involved in the design and development of two digital twin projects for structural health monitoring.

Before that, Filippo worked as a Software Engineer at the ACRF Image X Institute, where they focused on cardiac blood flow digital modeling and data processing. Filippo also worked as a Technical Specialist and Team Lead at Rokt, leading a data science and engineering team and implementing software engineering best practices. Additionally, they served as a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead at CSIRO's Data61, where they contributed to the development of distributed graph analytics and machine learning solutions.

Filippo Ammazzalorso completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Health/Medical Physics from Heidelberg University in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from Università degli Studi di Torino in 2004.
