Pavel Sumetc has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Pavel is currently employed as a Senior AI Engineer at Fuel50, starting in June 2023. Prior to this, Pavel worked at Soul Machines from 2017 to 2023, holding various roles such as Technical Product Owner, Senior Research and Development Engineer, and Research and Development Software Engineer. In these positions, they were responsible for building models and coding algorithms for use with 3D embodied virtual agents, conducting research in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Human-Computer Interaction, and developing software tools and systems. Before joining Soul Machines, Pavel worked as a Teaching Assistant at The University of Auckland from 2015 to 2016. Pavel also worked as a Lecturer at Aviation Engineering University from 2005 to 2013, where they taught courses on Mathematical Modelling, Statistics, and Computational Methods. Additionally, Pavel worked as a CNC Programmer at Garment manufacturer "Forti" from 2004 to 2005, where they programmed knitting patterns for an industrial knitting machine. Pavel also had a part-time role as a Scientific Researcher at Rocket engine company "Chemical Automatics Design Bureau" from 2002 to 2003.

Pavel Sumetc obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from The University of Auckland, where they studied from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics from Voronezh State University, where they studied from 1995 to 2000. In addition to their formal education, Pavel has also obtained several certifications, including "Product Management Foundations" from Product Institute in March 2023, "Professional Scrum Product Ownerâ„¢ I (PSPO I)" from Scrum.org in January 2023, "How to Manage a Remote Team" from GitLab in September 2021, "Agile Software Development" from the University of Minnesota in August 2021, and "Engineering Practices for Building Quality Software" from the University of Minnesota in June 2021.
