Quay Hoang has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. They began their career as a Studio Assistant at Helen Amy Murray in 2006, followed by a role as a Studio Assistant at Anne Kyyro Quinn in 2007. In the same year, Quay Hoang also started their own business called Quay Hoang, where they created handmade silk lamp shades that were exhibited at various art galleries.
Quay Hoang then worked as a Business Support Assistant at Sedex from 2007 to 2009, followed by a role as a Studio Manager at schoolTEN from 2008 to 2009. They then joined the Whitechapel Gallery in 2009 and held various positions including Senior Visitor Services Assistant, Visitor Services Officer, Visitor Services Supervisor, and finally, Visitor Services Manager. During their time at Whitechapel Gallery, they also served as a Project Coordinator for an e-commerce and data systems project on a secondment basis.
In 2014, Quay Hoang worked as a Senior Prints and Editions Consultant at Other Criteria before joining Quinn Architects (UK) in 2016 as a Studio Manager. At Quinn Architects, they oversaw a team of architects and assistants in designing high-end residential and commercial projects.
From 2017 to 2019, Quay Hoang worked at London Design Biennale as an Exhibitions Manager, where they were responsible for devising and delivering effective exhibition strategies. Currently, they are working as a Partnerships Production Manager at Frieze starting from 2019.
Quay Hoang's education history includes a variety of degrees and fields of study. In 2002, Quay Hoang attended Middlesex University and completed a Foundation degree in Mathematical Computing. The following year, in 2003, they attended Camberwell College of Arts and obtained a Foundation degree in Art & Design. Continuing their education, in 2004, Quay Hoang attended Chelsea College of Art & Design and completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Textile Design. In 2006, they spent a semester at Rhode Island School of Design, specializing in Textiles. Finally, from 2010 to 2013, Quay Hoang attended the University of Leicester and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Digital Heritage.
