Maryluz Cañón-Páez has had two significant work experiences in their career. From 1999 to 2021, they worked as the Responsible for Scientific Marine Research at Dirección General Marítima - Dimar. In August 2021, they started a new role as the Chief Research Officer (CRO) at FREGATA SPACE.

Maryluz Cañón-Páez completed a Doctor of Science degree in Coastal Oceanography at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California from 2017 to 2020.
