Water Resources Engineer at Freese And Nichols, Inc.

Matthew Lewis has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and environmental research. Matthew started their career as a Metals Prep Technician at ALS - North America, Environmental in 2012, where they worked until 2013. In 2013, they interned as an Attwater's Prarie Chicken Intern at the Houston Zoo. From 2014 to 2015, they worked as a Student Lab Technician at the Texas Water Resources Institute, where they conducted various tasks such as preparing experiment plates, testing water samples, and collecting samples from local streams. In 2014, they also started working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M, where they worked until 2016. Here, they gained research experience in the civil engineering field. Following this, Matthew joined Michael Baker International in 2016 as a Civil Associate II, where they worked until 2019. In this role, they contributed to various civil engineering projects. Currently, they are employed as a Water Resources Engineer at Freese and Nichols, starting from 2019. Overall, Matthew's work experience showcases their expertise in water resources, civil engineering, and environmental research.

Matthew Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M University, where they attended from 2008 to 2012. Matthew later pursued a Master of Science degree in Water Management and Hydrological Science at Texas A&M University from 2014 to 2016. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have obtained several certifications, including being a Professional Engineer (PE) from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in April 2021, a Certified Floodplain Manager from the Texas Floodplain Management Association in November 2018, and an Engineer-in-Training from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers in January 2017.
