Jay Collins has extensive work experience in the mechanical operations and construction industry. Jay has held various roles at different companies throughout their career. From 1995 to 2003, Jay served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Jay then joined the SPC Mechanical Corporation in 1999, starting as a Refrigeration/Controls Helper and working their way up to become a Pre-Construction / CAD Manager in 2016. At SPC Mechanical Corporation, they also held positions such as Pre-Construction Manager, Senior Project Manager, and Project Manager/Estimator. In 2017, Jay joined Freedom Industries Inc. where they initially served as a Preconstruction Manager before becoming the Preconstruction and Fabrication Manager. Jay was later promoted to Managing Director of Operations and subsequently became the Executive Leader of the Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fabrication Division. Their most recent role at Freedom Industries Inc. is Vice President of Mechanical Operations, which they currently hold.
Jay Collins has a comprehensive education history. Jay attended East Carolina University from 2006 to 2010, where they pursued a degree in Construction Management. Prior to that, from 2002 to 2005, they studied at Wilson Technical Community College and obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree.
Before entering higher education, Jay served in the United States Marine Corps from 1995 to 1999, receiving an Honorable Discharge. During this time, their field of study focused on engineering. In 1990, they completed their high school education and obtained a High School Diploma from Ralph L Fike High School.
In addition to their formal education, Jay has obtained several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Jay completed the "20 Habits of Executive Leadership" and "How to Use LinkedIn Learning" courses offered by LinkedIn in June 2023. Furthermore, Jay holds various licenses issued by the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors, including the North Carolina Heating Group 1, Class 1 License, North Carolina Heating Group 2 License, and North Carolina Plumbing Class 1 License. Additionally, they have obtained an OSHA 30 Certification from ClickSafety, although the exact timeframe for obtaining these licenses and certifications is not provided.
