Van Denton serves as the Chief Meteorologist at WGHP-TV and FOX 8 WGHP TV, a position held since April 1990. Denton anchors the weather segments during the 5, 6, 10, and 11 pm broadcasts from Monday to Friday, covering central and western North Carolina and southern Virginia. Previous experience includes serving as the Evening Meteorologist at WBTW in Florence/Myrtle Beach, SC, from January 1989 to March 1990, and as the Weekend Meteorologist at WCTI TV 12 ABC in New Bern, NC, from March 1986 to December 1988. Van Denton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from North Carolina State University between 1983 and 1987.
