Stephan Castellanos, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), established his practice of architecture in his central valley hometown of Stockton in 1979. He began on a course of leadership within the AIA California Council, serving as a board member, as Vice-president and an elected Representative to the national AIA Board. In 2000 Governor Gray Davis appointed Castellanos to the position of State Architect, where he was responsible for the oversight of design and construction for California’s public schools and community colleges. During his tenure, Castellano developed the Excellence in Public Buildings Program, which remains in use today.
Castellanos has served on the Delta College Board of Trustees (2008-2020), Community College League of California’s California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board of Directors and is a past president of the American Institute of Architects California Council. As an architect and with a passion for California community colleges he brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the strong connection between facilities and education to the FoundationCCC Board.
