Mattijs Bulcaen

Mattijs Bulcaen is a doctoral researcher at KU Leuven's Laboratory for Molecular Virology and Gene Therapy, focusing on gene editing as a strategy for addressing drug-refractory mutations in Cystic Fibrosis. Mattijs holds an FWO-SB Fellowship from the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen and has been conducting related doctoral research since September 2019. Prior experience includes a visiting research position at INEM - Institut Necker Enfants Malades and leadership of a bioassay team at Synosense, where Mattijs contributed to winning multiple awards in the 2019 SensUs competition. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Technology from KU Leuven, along with a high school diploma from Heilig-Hart College Waregem.
